Performance Plan 2006 to 2007
Since it began in April 2003, The Lancashire Rural Recovery Action Plan (LRRAP)
has approved almost £10 million of grant aid for a variety of projects across the county
which have created or safeguarded over 400 jobs and helped boost the quality of life and well-being of communities.
This year, the LRRAP has allocated £3 million for existing and new projects during 2006 to 2007.

Performance Plan 2005 to 2006
The LRRAP approved over £2 million for existing and new projects to spend during 2005 to 2006.
During this time the LRRAP achieved the following Northwest Regional
Development Agency (NWDA) targets to boost the rural economy:
- £2,074,421 of expenditure;
- £809,078 of other public investment;
- £1,730,795 of private investment;
- 28.55 jobs created;
- 8.50 jobs safeguarded;
- 26.00 new businesses created;
- 412.00 businesses assisted to improve their performance;
- £1,539,152 providing tourism facilities;
- £1,023,280 for new business premises;
- £317,797 for upgraded business premises;
- 3,187.34 m² of new business premises;
- 1,433.69 m² of upgraded business premises;
- 329.60 people assisted in their skills development;
- 2.00 training needs analyses, and;
- 0.75 ha of woodland created.
In addition, the LRRAP delivered at least the following:
- £2,299,056 of public investment;
- £4,396,384 of private investment;
- £6,935,245 of increased sales;
- 158 jobs created;
- 178.5 jobs safeguarded;
- 1 new social enterprise start up demonstrating growth after 12 months not registering for VAT or NI (Class 2) contributions;
- 78 new farm enterprises created and demonstrating growth after 12 months not registering for VAT or NI (Class 2) contributions;
- 7,039 m² of new business premises;
- 2,568 m² of upgraded business premises, and;
- 105.03 ha of woodland created.
Performance Plan 2004 to 2005
The LRRAP approved £1.25 million for projects to spend during 2004 to 2005.
During this time the LRRAP achieved the following Northwest Regional
Development Agency (NWDA) targets to boost the rural economy:
- £1,313,215 of expenditure;
- £2,085,701 of other public investment;
- £405,869 of private investment;
- 47 jobs created;
- 20.5 jobs safeguarded;
- 223 new businesses created or attracted to the region;
- 667 businesses receiving specialist advice, aimed at improving business performance.
- In addition, the LRRAP also delivered the following indirectly through the work of the projects:
- £2,259,585 of public investment
- £1,632,699 of private investment
- £2,300,364 of increased sales
- 117 jobs created
- 49 jobs safeguarded
- 2,238m² of new floorspace created for business
Performance Plan 2003 to 2004
In its first year alone, the LRRAP was able to approve funding of £5,080,845 for eight projects.
Some key LRRAP achievements in 2003 to 2004 include:
- £535,615 of expenditure;
- £871,113 of other public investment;
- £400,755 of private investment;
- 154.6 jobs created;
- 153.5 jobs safeguarded;
- 23 learning opportunities created and leading to a formal qualification;
- 1,297 learning opportunities created and filled not leading to a formal qualification;
- 0.5ha of brownfield land remediated or recycled;
- 111 new businesses created or attracted to the region;
- 737 businesses receiving specialist advice, aimed at improving business performance;
- 989m² of new or improved floorspace created for business use;
- 3 businesses assisted on skill needs, and;
- 0.1 hectares of woodland created.
